THE ROLE OF SHUSHA
INTELLECTUALS WHO RECEIVED HIGHER EDUCATION
IN THE PERIOD OF TSARIST
RUSSIA IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENTIFIC
PROGRESS
Summary. Shusha is the cultural capital of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of
Azerbaijan.
The article reflects the
tendencies and interests of Shusha residents in education. Academicians who
studied at the Transcaucasian Teacher's seminary during Tsarist Russia like
Safarali Valibeyov, Mukhtar Muradov, Abdulla Melikaslanov, Suleyman (Sani)
Akhundov, Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Zulfugar Hajibeyov and others were also pointed
out. During their studies, these great personalities overcame all difficulties
that they faced and continued their education in terms of contributing to the
development of education in Azerbaijan. These people contributed to the
education of teenage children, the preparation of textbooks and teaching aids,
and the development of our scientific and cultural heritage. At the same time,
the article contains information about many of our intellectuals who continued
their education in the higher education of the empire. The article provides
detailed information about many of our intellectuals who continue their
education in the higher schools of the Empire, their chosen higher educational
institutions and professions. The Azerbaijani youth, who don't speak Russian,
got an education and became worthy personalities of their people and Homeland.
At the end of the article, the names of the intellectuals who became victims of
repression in the history of Azerbaijan were mentioned. It was the mass
repression of the Azerbaijani intelligentsia that had the opposite effect on
the Enlightenment and the development of the people from the political point of
view.
