NATIONAL AND UNIVERSAL VALUES IN THE GRADE VII ENGLISH TEXTBOOK

Summary. In the article, national and universal values, education of schoolchildren in the spirit of love for national and universal values were investigated, and for this purpose, the role of the 7th grade English textbook in instilling national and universal values in the 7th grade students was evaluated. The textbook on English (the main foreign language) for the 7th grade of general educational institutions, which was jointly created by three authors (Kunul Heydarova, Gunay Gurbanova and Sevinj Mammadova), was compiled and signed in manuscript form on August 12, 2022. Like all textbooks for general educational institutions, the English language textbook also complies with the document "State standards of general education in the Republic of Azerbaijan" approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 29, 2020 No. 361 and "Education program for foreign language subjects for general education schools of the Republic of Azerbaijan (curriculum)" Throughout the article, the requirements set in those documents about the reflection of national and universal values in textbooks and how those values and requirements are reflected in the 7th grade English language textbook are discussed.
