SOMATIZATION AND RESPONSE
REACTION AGAINST SOMATIZATION
Summary. Somatization is one of the psychological defense
mechanisms of a person. The concept of somatization
was proposed by psychoanalyst Wilhelm Stekel in 1943 with reference to
conversion disorders and hysteroform
somatic disorders. Later, this term began to be applied to somatic diseases.
Psychological factors play a major
role in the origin of somatization, such disorders are called psychosomatic
disorders. Somatization mainly causes
problems in the individual's personal life, such as mental illnesses, including depression and anxiety disorders.
