THE PROBLEM OF ASYMMETRY AND NEUROPSYCHOLOGY
Summary. From an evolutionary point of view, asymmetry is a
general fundamental regularity in the organization
of all biological systems, and especially in the functioning of the brain of
vertebrates. It is based on
improving the forms of adaptation of the organism to life in three-dimensional
space, the gravitational field and the time
continuum. In relation to living organisms, two
types of asymmetry are usually considered structural
(morphological, for humans -
anthropological) and functional, which in turn can be represented by the uneven physiological work of symmetrical
organs, the uncertainty of mental activity of the peripheral parts of
the hemispheres and paired analyzers.
