GENDER STEREOTYPES IN THE PAREMIOLOGY OF THE RUSSIAN
LANGUAGE
Summary. The article includes a small study
of gender types found in Russian paremio-phraseology. Gender is created by
society as a social model of women and men that determines their position and
role in behavior and its institutions (family, political structure, economy,
culture and education, etc.). Gender systems are different in different
societies, but in every society these systems are asymmetrical in such a way
that men and all things "masculine" (characteristics, behaviors,
professions, etc.) are considered primary, important and dominant, and women
and all things which are "feminine" /woman' are defined as secondary,
socially insignificant and subordinate. Paremiology is located at the
intersection of phraseology and folklore, which makes the study of proverbs and
sayings very important from the point of view of the modern linguistic and
cultural approach. Paremiology is indicative of cultural stereotypes fixed in
language. There is no doubt that there are different possibilities for
self-identification, but the analysis of a large number of sections allows us
to draw conclusions about dominant trends and evaluations.
