SPEECH DISORDERS DURING CEREBRAL PALSY
Summаry. Speech disorders occupy
an important place in the complex structure of disorders in children with
cerebral palsy. The characteristics of speech disorders and the degree of their
severity depend primarily on the localization and severity of brain damage. Speech
disorders during cerebral palsy are not only related to the damage of certain
structures of the brain, but also to the later formation or non-development of
parts of the cerebral cortex that are important in speech and mental activity.
The retardation in the development of speech in cerebral palsy is also
associated with the limitation of the scope of knowledge and ideas about the
environment, the inadequacy of material and practical activities and social
relations. Parental mistakes made by parents have a negative impact on speech
development. Often, parents overprotect the child, try to do too much for him,
anticipate all his wishes or fulfill them in response to a gesture or look. At
the same time, the child does not need verbal communication. In such cases, the
child is deprived of speech communication, which is an important condition for
the development of speech.
