Summary. The article "21st century
skills in education: our yesterday, our today" discusses the need to
transform today's education system to better prepare students to meet the
demands of the future and compete globally. The article emphasises the importance
of essential XXI century skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking,
analytical skills, problem solving, communication skills, teamwork,
collaboration, multidisciplinary knowledge management and use of technology. It
is also stated that this transformation in education requires the emergence of
an approach that emphasises the development of learners' thinking and
application skills, rather than merely transferring knowledge. The article aims
to focus on innovations in the education system in order to train students as
specialists who meet the changing demands and needs of the career world. XXI
