DIRECTIONS OF WORK ON ELIMINATION OF ECHOLALIA IN CHILDREN WITH AUTISM
Abstract. It is
typical for children with autism syndrome to have extensive speech impairments.
Some children with autism syndrome have the speech ability to pronounce
occasional vowels or consonants infrequently and without purpose. Many
autistic children mechanically repeat what they hear from others. Such
repetition lasts up to 2-3 years. However, echolalia takes longer in autistic
individuals. To reduce echolalia in children's speech, it is necessary to
investigate its cause. When the case of echolalia is observed in a child, the
parent should consult a specialist and the correct correction should be
applied. Because echolalia is a problem that lasts until adulthood if it is not
caught in time. Echolalia treatment should be prescribed by a specialist for
each individual situation (speech therapist, psychologist, psycho-pedagogue,
etc.). When prescribing a therapeutic program, it is necessary to take into account
the child's age, developmental characteristics and the severity of the
pathology.
