THE IMPACT OF ICT USAGE IN GENERAL EDUCATION SCHOOLS ON ENHANCING EDUCATION QUALITY
Abstract. In this article, author argues that the journey to acquiring
comprehensive ICT knowledge begins in general education institutions. The
Ministry of Education designated the year of 2010 as the Year of ICT in
Education. Since then, numerous conferences, seminars, motivational campaigns,
and competitions have been held in this domain. A significant number of schools
have been equipped with smart-boards, notebooks, and computers. According to
the author, teachers believe that in an ICT-driven learning environment, the
student becomes the central figure in the educational process. The teacher, on
the other hand, takes on the role of a facilitator or guide, serving as the
primary advisor to students. As facilitators, they assess the knowledge and
abilities of students while continuously encouraging initiative, engagement,
and independence. Consequently, it is essential to create opportunities for
every subject teacher to get involved in competitions, creative projects, and
innovative programs.
The author argues that the
implementation of active learning technologies, which positively influence the
quality of education, is one of the most critical challenges of our time.
Therefore, teachers must strive to create more conducive learning environments
for students.
