ISSUES OF IDIOMATICITY AND AUTHENTICITY IN THE SPEECH OF SENIOR-COURSE STUDENTS IN ENGLISH TEACHING
Abstract. The article
presents the advantages of mastering idiomatic expressions with authentic
materials in the process of teaching English in the senior (III-IV) courses of
language faculties. One of the main prerequisities for the effectiveness of
teaching English is that native speakers hear this language in their language
in their own language. The use of authentic materials in teaching is an
auxiliary tool for students to become familiar with the pronunciation,
intonation, speaking speed and style of native speakers. The teaching of idioms
directly creates a basis for students to acquire figurative and expressive
speech habits and have expressive communicative competence.
