DIGITAL CHEMISTRY EDUCATION, ONLINE PLATFORMS,
THEIR ADVANTAGES, AND EDUCATIONAL PROSPECTS
Abstract. This
article explores the significance of the digitalization process in education,
the teaching methods emerging through the active application of technology, and
ways to foster positive teacher-student relationships. It provides
comprehensive and informative insights into interactive simulations, online
laboratories, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), web-based learning
platforms, and mobile applications. The impact of digital technologies on
chemistry education is analyzed, with suggestions and opinions offered
regarding the implementation of these tools within the Azerbaijani education
system. The need for digital methods in the teaching of chemistry is
emphasized, and the main factors driving this need are outlined. The article
describes the features and advantages of several proven international online
platforms. It also highlights the characteristics of augmented reality (AR)
and virtual reality (VR) technologies and discusses the new opportunities they
create in education. Special attention is given to the concept of the
"Chemistry Metaverse"–a 3D virtual reality (VR)-based educational
universe designed for subjects like chemistry that require abstract and visual
learning. The components and future prospects of this platform are discussed.
These innovative methods are presented as a guarantee for the future
development of education.
