OPPORTUNITIES OF AUTHENTIC MATERIALS IN DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ LANGUAGE
CREATIVITY AND COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS
Abstract. This article investigates the impact of authentic
materials on the development of students’ language creativity and communicative
skills in English as a foreign language. The study emphasizes the role of
combining modern pedagogical principles - such as the communicative approach,
multiple intelligences theory, and task-based learning - with authentic
materials. The analysis shows that authentic texts and audiovisual resources
provide students with opportunities to use the language in real communicative
contexts, enhance their motivation, and support the development of listening,
reading, and communication skills. Additionally, authentic materials broaden
students’ cultural awareness and creative potential. The article presents
strategies that teachers should consider when selecting and implementing
materials, as well as practical aspects of effectively using authentic
materials in the classroom.
