STUDYING THE MEANINGS OF CASE FORMS OF NOUNS IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE CLASSES AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article examines the methodological aspects of teaching the Russian case system to Azerbaijani-speaking students learning Russian as a foreign language. It focuses on the semantic interpretation of case forms within word combinations, highlighting the importance of lexical-semantic and interlevel connections. The paper substantiates the effectiveness of a teaching model based on the formula "from form – to semantics – to function," facilitating a deeper understanding of grammatical categories. The study presents a system of exercises aimed at developing students’ speech competence through the integration of lexical and grammatical features. The proposed approach improves learners’ ability to perceive, differentiate, and use case forms appropriately in context. Scientific novelty lies in the linguistic-didactic justification of integrating lexical-semantic analysis into the study of grammatical categories, and in the application of interlevel connections and contrastive analysis. Practical significance is reflected in the potential use of the methodology in university-level teaching of Russian as a foreign language.
Research results confirm that this approach helps reduce grammatical errors, enhances speech production, and supports the development of communicative competence in students.

Key words: Russian as a foreign language, case forms of nouns, phrase, context, semantic, grammar, valence.
