THE ARTISTIC REFLECTION OF NATIONAL FREEDOM IDEAS IN BAKHTIYAR VAHABZADA’S POETRY
Abstract. This article examines the artistic expression of national freedom
ideas in the poetry of prominent Azerbaijani poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzada. Based on
the content and stylistic analysis of selected works, it is demonstrated that
national spirit, love for the homeland, struggle for freedom, and the protection
of national and moral values stand out as key motifs in his creative output.
Through poems such as “Gülüstan”, “Azerbaijan”, and “Return to the Homeland”,
the poet articulates the aspirations of his people for independence – even
under Soviet censorship – by employing subtle metaphors, symbolic language, and
lyrical imagery. The article also analyzes how Vahabzade presents the idea of
freedom in relation to historical events, and explores the ideological and
aesthetic functions of his poetry. The study concludes that Vahabzade’s poetic
legacy holds not only literary-aesthetic value but also plays a significant
role in preserving the national identity and socio-political consciousness.
