ISSUES OF
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND UPBRINGING
Abstract. The article analyzes the necessity of forming
new ways of thinking and behavior across all areas of society in light of the
deepening ecological problems. It emphasizes the growing relevance of environmental
education in the education system, highlighting its special importance as one
of the key directions of modern education. The joint application of
environmental upbringing and ecological pedagogy is shown to play a significant
role in the moral and social development of the younger generation,
contributing to the formation of ethical, conscious, and responsible attitudes
toward nature. The article notes that hosting the globally significant COP-29
event in Azerbaijan has further increased the importance of environmental
education. This event has opened new opportunities for strengthening
environmental awareness in the education system and for enhancing young
people's knowledge, skills, and responsibility regarding climate change. The
article discusses the goals, objectives, and methods of implementing
environmental education, as well as the possibilities of applying ecological
pedagogy in educational institutions. The development of ecological culture,
environmental responsibility, and a sense of love and care for nature in
general education institutions is evaluated as one of the main components of
modern educational strategies.
