POSSIBILITIES FOR IMPLEMENTING HORIZONTAL INTEGRATION IN THE CONTENT
STANDARDS OF 7th GRADE BIOLOGY
Abstract. The article
examines the importance of the principle of intradisciplinary horizontal
integration in biology teaching. The 2013 curriculum and the improved biology
curriculum approved in 2024 are compared. In the previous curriculum, the
principle of integration was not sufficiently taken into account in the
structure of content lines. In the new curriculum, five content lines have been
defined, and intradisciplinary integration is more clearly reflected in this
structure. However, the analysis of the 7th-grade textbook shows that the
topics are mainly organized based on the alignment of standards within the same
content line, and horizontal integration between different content lines is not
sufficiently ensured. As a result, the structure of topics and standards
determines the degree of integrativeness in the textbook and limits the
practical implementation of horizontal integration.
