PSYCHOLOGICAL
ANALYSIS OF VALUE REPRESENTATIONS OF YOUTH IN THE CONTEXT OF SUICIDE IN THE
MODERN ERA
Abstract. Although representations of values
change over time, the importance of values never diminishes. Different
researchers have given different definitions and explanations for values, which
are one of the important components of our lives. Values have been defined as
goals, means, standards, important objects, etc. and studies have been
conducted based on the respective definitions. In turn, in our study, value
concepts were investigated in the context of factors of suicidal thoughts
(n=308x2) and suicide attempts (n=93x2) through the evaluation of terminal and
instrumental values. According to the results, it was found that young people
who did not have suicidal thoughts and did not make suicide attempts rated some
terminal and instrumental values as important values higher than young people
who had suicidal thoughts and attempts. There is a great need for further
research in this direction.
