THE ROLE OF FICTION IN THE FORMATION OF THE "I-IMAGE" IN DOLESCENTS
Abstract. Fiction plays a crucial role in the formation of the “self-image” of
adolescents. The formation of the “self-image” in adolescents helps them
understand themselves, their feelings, relationships, and their place in the
world. With the help of reading, adolescents have the opportunity to see
themselves as heroes depicted in fiction and analyze their actions. As a result
of all this, adolescents begin to develop self-awareness and necessary healthy
values. Modern society requires individuals who are able to think creatively,
make innovative decisions, and independently acquire knowledge. Therefore, the
main principle of organizing the educational process in secondary schools
should be humanization. This requires teachers to pay attention to the inner
world of students, their interests and needs, and to enrich their spiritual
potential. Literary education has a special role in the personal development of
students. Its educational potential is quite significant. The specific nature
of the content shapes a person's inner world, worldview, value dimension,
attitude to nature, homeland, social duty, uniqueness in religion, work,
family, art, love, as well as the understanding of a person's purpose and the
meaning of life. Literary works show students the beauty and ugliness of
actions. They force them to consider higher personal qualities.
