THE IMPACT OF
TEACHERS’ BEHAVIORAL STYLE ON STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC SELF-CONFIDENCE
Abstract. The article examines the influence
of teachers’ behavioral styles on students’ levels of academic self-confidence.
In the context of modern education, teacher–student interactions extend beyond
the mere transmission of knowledge and represent a significant psychological
factor affecting learners’ personal development. Research findings demonstrate
that a supportive, motivating, and respectful communication style strengthens
students’ belief in their academic abilities, enhances learning motivation, and
contributes to higher academic achievement. Conversely, an authoritarian,
harsh, or overly critical behavioral approach weakens students’ self-esteem,
generates insecurity, reduces interest in learning, and may result in academic
decline.
The study also emphasizes the role of pedagogical
communication, positive reinforcement, individual approach, and empathy in the
educational process. It concludes that the purposeful establishment of a
constructive and psychologically safe teacher behavior style has a substantial
impact on students’ socio-emotional development and academic self-confidence.
Therefore, integrating psychological principles into pedagogical practice is
essential for effective and holistic education.
