THE IMPACT OF A TEACHER'S PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE AND PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE ON THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION

Abstract. The thesis investigates the role of the teacher, the nature of their pedagogical activity, and the main factors influencing their level of professionalism in the general education schools of modern Azerbaijan. The analysis conducted highlights that the teacher is not only a transmitter of knowledge but also a key figure who shapes pupils' worldview, mindset, behaviour, and values. It is posited that alongside high academic knowledge, a teacher must possess national-moral and ethical values, and a humanist and democratic worldview, as a key prerequisite for the development of pupils as individuals and the formation of their creative thinking skills.

The modernisation of human resources in the education sector is one of the priority directions of the state strategy. The achievements of learners are closely linked to the teacher's academic skills, teaching experience and level of professionalism. According to professor A.A. Agayev, to achieve quality education, it is essential for a teacher to possess not only national, moral and ethical values, but also high professional knowledge. Professor A.A. Alizadeh, for his part, assesses a teacher's pedagogical mastery as the primary factor influencing the quality of instruction.

As a result of the study, it has been concluded that the quality of education directly depends on the teacher's professionalism and pedagogical mastery. The modern teacher is not merely a transmitter of knowledge, but also a guide and mentor who personalises learning by using innovative methods that take individual characteristics into account. Their aim is to create equal learning opportunities for pupils, ensure motivation, and nurture citizens equipped with modern knowledge. Thus, a teacher's professionalism, pedagogical mastery, and personal qualities directly influence the quality of the educational process and serve as the primary driving force of modern education.
