Abstract. The article conducts a scientific analysis of the relationship between
the Azerbaijani classical pedagogical heritage and modern pedagogical theory.
The study covers the approaches of the pedagogical ideas of Mirza Fatali
Akhundzadeh, Hasan bey Zardabi, Firidun bey Kocharli, Jalil Mammadguluzadeh and
Uzeyir Hajibeyli to the issues of family, society and upbringing. At the same
time, the scientific heritage of A. Aghayev and A. Pashayev is examined in the
context of the modern interpretation of classical pedagogical ideas in the 21st
century Azerbaijani education system. The article analyzes the mutual influence
of family and social environment in the formation of personality, the role of
rational and secular knowledge in upbringing, the structuring of the
pedagogical system and the problems of teacher training in theoretical and
practical aspects. The study shows that the integration of classical
