DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS' SOCIO-EMOTIONAL COMPETENCES IN HIGHER
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
Abstract. Studies prove that
one of the main factors that prevents students from asserting themselves in the
future and engaging in successful professional activities is the insufficient
development of socio-emotional competencies. Unfortunately, the underestimation
of the essence of socio-emotional competencies is an international problem.
Recently, the development of socio-emotional competencies in students is
considered one of the main goals of educational policy.
In the article, we will touch on the importance of developing
socio-emotional competencies in parallel with students' professional knowledge.
Studies show that there are certain tools to integrate socio-emotional
competencies into educational programs. Training methods, group projects, the
activities of student self-government bodies and psychological support services
directly contribute to the formation and development of socio-emotional
competencies in the higher education environment. Their manifestation is
clearly observed in the student's successes both in the educational process
(successful adaptation, academic performance, constructive resolution of
conflicts) and in his personal life (stress resistance, building
relationships). It is expected that as higher education institutions pay more
attention to socio-emotional learning and create a student-centered
environment, the professional and personal success of future professionals will
increase.
