MODERN MULTICULTURALISM IN AZERBAIJAN
Abstract.
The article examines the theoretical
foundations, social essence, and political outcomes of multiculturalism policy
in modern Azerbaijan. The study analyzes the formation features of the concept
of multiculturalism and its relationship with the principles of tolerance and
cultural diversity from a scientific and theoretical perspective. It is noted
that in the context of accelerating globalization processes and the expansion
of international relations, multiculturalism policy has become an important
strategic direction for many states. During the research, the development of
Azerbaijan’s historically formed traditions of tolerance at the level of state
policy in the modern period was investigated. It was determined that the
protection of the rights of various ethnic and religious groups in Azerbaijan,
as well as the creation of conditions for their social and cultural
development, positively affects the strengthening of social stability and
national solidarity in the country. The article also analyzes the promotion of
multicultural values in the education system, the organization of international
forums, and the development of intercultural dialogue. The results of the
research show that multiculturalism policy in Azerbaijan serves not only to
preserve cultural diversity but also to ensure national security and prevent
tendencies toward radicalism and religious extremism. At the same time, it has
been determined that factors such as globalization, information influences, and
cultural assimilation create certain challenges for multiculturalism policy.
The article substantiates the importance of strengthening educational measures
and tolerance policy in this direction.
