lInguo dIdactIc potentIal of authentIc materIals In developIng publIc speakIng skIlls In the EnglIsh language
Abstract. The article
examines the linguodidactic potential of authentic materials in the process of developing public speaking skills in the English language. The
significance of this topic stems from the growing demand for professionals
capable of effectively presenting their ideas on the international arena, as
well as the gap between traditional textbooks and real-world language practice.
Authentic materials are understood as texts created by native speakers for
other native speakers and not originally intended for educational purposes:
public speeches of politicians, podcasts, interviews, videos, and others.
Various classifications of authentic materials are examined based on different
criteria, such as their origin, their application, as well as the degree and
nature of their authenticity. Special attention is paid to the comprehensive
impact of authentic materials, which combine verbal and nonverbal components of
communication.
