THE PATH FROM THE JURA GARMON TO HEROISM

Abstract. The article discusses the Azerbaijani garmon of the jura (piccolo) type for first time. First, general information about jura instruments is provided. It is also stated that jura-type instruments have ancient historical roots in Azerbaijan. Here, the verse in which the name of the jura is mentioned in the work of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi in the work “Iskendername” is presented and analyzed. The treatises of the Azerbaijani musicologist-scientist Abdulgadir Maraghali mention the tohfatulud, a jura type of oud. It also mentions the instrument called juraud, which was developed by Gasim Gasimov based on the oud.

The article devotes extensive space to the history, etymology and morphology of the jura garmon.
