JALIL MAMMADGULUZADE'S PEDAGOGICAL VIEWS AND NATIONAL EDUCATION IDEAS

Abstract. The article provides a systematic scientific and theoretical analysis of Jalil Mammadquluzadeh’s pedagogical views and his ideas of national enlightenment. The study examines the ideological and pedagogical foundations of the enlightenment movement that emerged in Azerbaijan in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and explains the impact of the socio-cultural transformations of that period on the educational system. The thinker’s secular model of education, the principle of mother-tongue instruction, the social responsibility of the teacher, and the social justice function of education are conceptually interpreted. Particular emphasis is placed on his criticism of the outdated religious-scholastic school system and his advocacy of a rational, scientific, and practice-oriented model of education as an alternative. The relationship between national identity and educational policy is also analyzed comparatively, and the relevance of enlightenment ideas to modern educational concepts is substantiated. The research concludes that Jalil Mammadquluzadeh’s pedagogical heritage constitutes an important stage in the history of Azerbaijani pedagogical thought and serves as a theoretical and methodological foundation for the formation of the modern national education model.
