Abstract. The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the linguadidactic potential of basic texts in the process of teaching Russian as a foreign language. In the context of the anthropocentric paradigm of education, language learning is impossible without simultaneous comprehension of the national culture. The author analyzes in detail the definitions of “basic” and “precedent” texts within the philosophy of the text-centered approach and proposes a multidimensional classification of criteria for selecting text material for advanced foreign students. The paper describes the psycholinguistic mechanisms of perceiving a foreign text, presents a detailed step-by-step methodology for working with short fictional prose, and provides the results of experimental teaching that confirm the effectiveness of the developed system.
