Abstract. A part of the difficulties encountered by primary school children in the training process is related to the instructional materials presented in textbooks. When instructional materials are not presented in accordance with pupils’ age-related, cognitive, emotional, volitional, and individual psychological characteristics, they place an additional cognitive load on perception, attention, memory, and thinking processes, make it more difficult to organize attention, and may lead to failure in learning activities, reduced cognitive engagement, lower self-confidence, and decreased learning motivation.
