Humeyir Huseyn Ahmadov was born in 1958 in Baku.

In 1979 he graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute (now ASPU) with Honors, in 1979-1984 by appointment, he worked as a teacher of mathematics, physics and labor in railway secondary schools of the Azerbaijan SSR, then as a teacher-upbringer in a military-oriented secondary school after J. Nakhchivanski, and continued his work as a math teacher at Russian-oriented boarding school No. 12 named after Makarenko.

In 1984-1987 he received full-time postgraduate education at the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Institute of Pedagogical Sciences (Institute of Educational Problems), in 1988 he defended his candidate's thesis on the theory and history of pedagogy. Since 2000, he has been working as the head of the scientific-pedagogical staff training department at the Education Institute of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

H.H. Ahmadov is a Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor, foreign member of the Russian State Academy of Education, Honored Science and Education Figure of the Russian Academy of Education.

He is the co-author of the textbooks “Labor Education” developed for students in grades 5-8 of secondary schools, “Technology” for students in grades 2-9, as well as a number of textbooks, teaching aids, methodical aids for teachers.

In different countries, 10 monographs by H.H. Ahmadov were published in Azerbaijani, Russian and English. In total, he is the author and co-author of two textbooks for secondary schools, one for colleges, four textbooks and teaching aids for institutions of higher education.

In different years, he taught on a substitute basis in a number of higher and secondary specialized schools.

In his large-scale monograph entitled “Development Strategy of Azerbaijan Education”, published in Azerbaijani and English, H. Ahmadov analyzed in detail the complexity of socio-pedagogical events that took place in the process of fundamental reconstruction of the educational policy and the education system in our country, its deep contradictions, substantiated the necessity and inevitability of reforms.

Since 1985, H. Ahmadov has been a member of the problem council of the USSR APS on "History of School and Pedagogy" and since 2003, an honorary member and professor of the “Coordination Council for Strategic Planning of Education” at the University of Minnesota, USA. In 2006, he was awarded the medal “Advanced Education Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan”. In 2008, he was awarded a certificate with the honorary title “UNESCO Teacher” (Kazan). In September 2008, he was awarded the third class Order of the Russian Federation “Duty and Honor”. In 2009, the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation awarded him the "K.D. Ushinsky" medal for services to the development of pedagogical science.

In 2017, he was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Science and Education” of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in 2021 he received an anniversary medal (No. 2643), on the 100th anniversary of the ITUAEE RC and he was awarded with the "Progress" medal (I-6259) by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 2942 dated 05.10.2021.

In 2011, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Modernization of higher education in the Republic of Azerbaijan in the context of globalization”. According to the relevant decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the İn 2017 he was awarded the scientific title of professor.

Since 2004, he has been a member of the Azerbaijani organization of the International Movement “Pedagogues for Peace and Mutual Understanding”, since 2007 - a member of the Academy of Pedagogical and Social Sciences in Moscow. In April 2006 he was a foreign member of the Russian State Academy of Education.

In February 2008, he was elected a member of the management board of the public union "Education Council" of the Republic of Azerbaijan, founded by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. He is a laureate of the "Golden Pen" media award.

In December 2008, he was elected a full member (academic) of the Russian Academy of Legal Sciences, and in June 2012, the Academy of Education Informatization of the Russian Federation.

He was elected a full member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences in 2020.

Humeyir Huseyn Ahmadov was a member of the dissertation council which he created at the Institute of Educational Problems of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (N 02.191) and dissertation council operating under the ASPU (FD 2.15).

H. Ahmadov is a member of the editorial board of the journals “Scientific Works” of the IERA, “Scientific Works” of the Baku Girls University, “Curriculum”, “Pedagogy”, “Azerbaijan School”, as well as the magazines “Право и жизнь”, “Муниципальное образование: инновации и эксперимент”, “Инновационные проекты и программы в образовании” и “Образование, наука, научные кадры” published in Moscow, as well as indexed journals "Revista Genero e Interdisciplinaridade".

In 2018, the monograph "The Strategy of Education Development in Azerbaijan" and the textbook "Pedagogy" written for the bachelor level of higher education institutions were awarded the "Gold Medal" at the book fair held in Paris, France.

Under his scientific guidance one researcher defended dissertation and received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.

H. Ahmadov is the author of more than 500 scientific works, 10 monographs, books, textbooks, methodical aids and programs.
